Diagonal

Diagonal

The renovation project of this apartment in the heart of Milan focuses on the redemption of existing elements that over time have affected the building's structure and the original features of the space. Particularly, the wooden boiserie that covers the entire living room area.

The project has been developed according to these classic details which are the main actors of the apartment’s interior.
The choice of white as the dominant colour and the restoration of the original marble floor, highlights the desire to keep a neutral approach adding more value to the architectural form.

Moreover, the second part of the renovation is based on reorganizing the space following the natural axis of the apartment.
The diagonal concept creates a separation between old and new. The decision  to work uniquely on one area was made with the possibility of creating  an intimate dialogue between the allure of the existing boiserie and the rationalism of the new construction.

This dichotomy is recognizable by the choice of materials and finishings too: the linear and essential style kitchen converses with Madeamano hand-painted tiles. Instead, in the bathroom this contrast is suggested by the presence of volumetric and linear elements such as the bathtub and the choice of Mutina Dechirer tiles characterized by a embroidery barely perceptible bas-relief.
